Medical massage · Fort Collins

Medical massage for recovery, mobility and relief.

Medical massage is focused, outcome-oriented work. Sessions are built around a specific issue — an injury, a surgery, a pattern of chronic pain — and adjusted as your body responds.

What medical massage is

Where a relaxation massage aims to soothe, medical massage aims to address. Amy assesses how you're moving, identifies the tissues involved and uses targeted techniques — neuromuscular work, myofascial release, deep tissue and gentle mobilization — to support recovery.

It can work well alongside physical therapy, chiropractic or medical care. Amy is glad to coordinate with your other providers when helpful.

Who it may suit

  • Recovery from sports, work or car-accident injuries
  • Post-surgical support once cleared by your physician
  • Chronic neck, shoulder, back or hip pain
  • Repetitive strain from desk work or physical jobs

Some conditions require medical clearance before massage. Please mention recent surgeries, blood clots, or acute injuries when booking.

Potential benefits

  • Improved range of motion
  • Reduced muscle tension and guarding
  • Support for scar tissue and fascial restrictions
  • Practical self-care guidance between visits

Results vary from person to person and depend on skin or tissue condition, consistency and home care. Amy will talk through realistic expectations at your consultation.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is medical massage painful?

+

It can be firm and focused, but it shouldn't be harsh. You're always in control of pressure, and Amy checks in throughout.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

+

Not usually. If you're recovering from surgery or a serious injury, clearance from your provider is recommended.

How many sessions will I need?

+

It depends on the issue. Acute concerns may need a few closely spaced sessions; chronic patterns often benefit from ongoing care.

What should I wear?

+

Whatever you're comfortable in — you'll be appropriately draped at all times, and Amy only uncovers the area being worked on.
